The Reorganization of Kinship in the Way of Jesus
The earliest followers of Jesus took a new reality quite seriously. God had reorganized and restructured human kinship around himself through his son. The reorganization of kin boundaries was this weird offense to so much of the surrounding Roman world. I think in many ways pagan religions was like a way of codifying nature.
