Mackenzie: I feel like, you know, it is a forefront idea in golf architecture. He was trying to make holes visually appear more difficult than they actually play. One of his big tricks was like, how do I trick the eye? How do I make this bunker complex that's maybe 70, 80 yards short of the green look like it's surrounding the green so that when you're hitting an approach shot in from 160 yards out, it feels way more daunting than it actually is.
