A new app built by Berkeley researchers is warning people before earthquakes hit. The app delivered the notification to 95,000 devices. It works by collecting motion data from your phone and using a patented neural network to determine if the motion fits the model of an earthquake. Some 2 million people downloaded the app after Tuesday's successful warning.
