Emoji: The Problem With Media and Communication
In contemporary discourse they have been in a sense kind of saturated in meaning, but also free. The way we use emoji, like the rest of language is not only cultural it's idiosyncratic so people still use it as a hotel and some people using it as a hospital depending on where you see it. This is what makes you know meeting someone new who uses emoji differently than you, you know, frustrating but also exciting right? So I got into thinking of this kind of free universal language that pictographs often are associated with. And the reality of the different way you use it and local usages of emoji.
