The Relationship Between Nietzsche and Rousseau

Rousseau believed that mankind was never as free in society as he had been in the state of nature. In some sense Rousseau stands for the greatest mistakes of the Enlightenment as Nietzsche sees them. But even though Rousseau is perhaps his most consistent enemy, it's their shared agreement on certain fundamental issues that allows them to become altogether more hostile to one another.
