Leibnitz thinks that learning arithmetic and, you know, mastering the skill of long division um is an onerous burden. Or is it intrinsically edifying? I think with any practice, that's going to be a kind of gistalt right? You can see it as a burden, or you can seeIt as edify in and it's the way it's incorporated into a culture that will determine whether it's good or bad. And i've recently gott into a lot of trouble with a fellow, with colleagues, for defending traditions of rote learning.
