The Importance of Ike Turner

Ike Turner was very instrumental in that, but obviously the enduring image of Ike Turner is one that made Tina's life a living hell. But beyond all those travails, just in terms of stage craft, in terms of vocals, she was like the blueprint in so many ways. And you know, got away from this hellhole, we call the miracle went over to Switzerland and lived her life out in a quiet, dignified, reserved way on her own terms. It's just, I don't know, it's just a department that's not ready to let this generation of black Americans go.
