Pye: Why should something last? Because when something lasts, it has a unique beauty that you can't replicate any other way. He says if we make things that will not last, then newness becomes this cult of newness and novelty is mistaken for art. So I think that's important because the last chapter he was talking about how art cannot be reduced to novelty. Yes, something no one's done before, which makes it worth pursuing. And that's why it's so valuable.
