Joseph worcester was a medical student at yale and among the staff of the merium revisers of this dictionary. He then moved to london and became a contributor to the oxford english dictionary. The webster 18 64 edition sold really well, but his publisher did not keep that book alive with revisions. It turns out that the work of revision is the most important thing that keeps dictionaries current.
