How Much Would It Cost to Simplify Pay Disputs?
How much would it cost, do you think, to settle all of the pay disputes currently in action? Well, it depends what would be, what it would take to settle them. The fact that nurses, or the NHS are getting 5% rather than the budgeted 3 and a half percent could add another five or six billion next year. If he was to take that out of the health budget, the education budget, the civil service budget and so on, then clearly that makes things tight for schools and other bits of the public sector.
