The History of Philosophy in English

In the 1550s, people started thinking of translating philosophy from Latin into English. There was a real crisis because when you started to put Latin phrases about propositions and negations in English, then it was very tempting to just use those sorts of words. I think there is a tendency for people whose main language, or whose only language is English, to think of philosophy as something rather weird.
