Blessing you is an expression of a cultural norm but not empathy, Cam says. He doesn't feel bad for the person who just sneezed - unless it's in the middle of a fit. When people were sneezing, they were believed, with some good reason, to be dying and therefore would say god bless you here in your final days on earth. Would actually be really interested to know, tha, the deep origins of bless you.
