Jesus Is a Sign of Contradiction
The catechism says from the basically beginning of Jesus as a public ministry, there were certain Pharisees and partisans of Herod that agreed together to destroy him. The reason was because he's doing incredible things, expelling demons, forgiving sins, claiming to give sins and doing it. He is a novel interpretation of the precepts of the law regarding purity,. And yet he did not reject the centrality of the temple in Jerusalem.
