The Eucharist Is the New Manna
If the Eucharist is merely a symbol of Jesus, it does not require faith to accept that bread and wine are changed by divine power into Jesus' body and blood. That Jesus emphasizes faith before and after his teaching signals to us that what's going on at the last supper is something supernatural. The cup of blessing that we bless is a non-participation in the blood of Christ. Because the loaf of bread is one, we though many are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.
