If i write something that gets a thousand fans and two haters, my natural inclination is to think, ah, two haters. I must never write again. It's never been bad enough to actually stop me writing, but it does gradually erode off some of the more idiosyncratic features of my writing in favour of blander styles. Nobody objects to this is the opposite of what i want. Every time a choice is above the water line of conscious awareness, i try to stick to the unique, polarizing things.
