The problem-solving model is rooted in Skinner's attitudes of parsimony. It can be used to help guide newer BCBA's through a system of questions and things to consider before just wholesale going in and saying, okay, well, this protocol didn't work. So let's try this to really have a good database rationale for why they are making modifications or why they're implementing certain protocols. "It'll be 20 years as a BCBA for me," says Dr. Jim Hays who has been practicing behavior analysis since the 1970s.
