How Do I Know if I Need More or Less?

The first thing to do is gather everything together into one place and print it out. Be really gentle to yourself when you're starting revision. You follow your gut on that one. We will always all of us need a developmental edit whether we hire a developmental editor or whether we are working with an agent who then sells our book.
