Education and the Effects of the Spirit

For children between birth and the age of seven, we face the social task of achieving genuine understanding. Our more humane age has rightly eliminated a common practice in schools, beating and spanking. The only reason beatings were successfully removed from our schools was because such close attention was paid to externals. In effect, they give a terrible inner beating to children.
