Child Support

iReporter looks at the impact of welfare reform on women and children. The child support system is designed to break up their families if they are too poor, i say. A group of democratic senators will introduce a bill this fall that would stop states from keeping child support as a cost recovery for welfare. We need to stop humiliating low-income mothers in order to get them the financial assistance they need to keep their families afloat - i think we can do better than this.
