It's like the language does the language that you speak change the way that you think really reminded me of like the key themes of Babel 17, the Samuel Bellini book from the 60s. The other thing I would say about this one that was really crazy is the physics principle. It's the Fermat's principle of least action. And it turns out when light, a light beam strikes water, light moves more slowly through water than it does through air. So it bends and its resulting path is always the shortest possible path to reach the point where it eventually lands.
