The Bad Use of Polling in Montana

Republicans in the Montana Senate recently voted to change the state's election laws to a top two primary system. The law would only change in one single instance for the 2024 Senate election. Republicans say this would be a test run of a new voting system but it could also be an attempt to make Democratic Senator John Tester's reelection bid harder. In past reelection bids there has been a libertarian candidate. Presumably Republicans are thinking that that libertarian candidate is taking votes away from the Republican.
