Episode 118: Cell Signalling
The Science of Everything Podcast
00:00
What Is Cell Signaling?
cell signaling is where it occurs and why it matters. It crops up in a massive way in the endocrine system through hormones, nervous system through neurotransmitters and in the immune system through cytokines. They're signaling molecules that are produced by a cell released either into the bloodstream or the extracellular matrix and then transmitted to their target cell. Now this leads us then to talk about some of the different types of receptors. I'm not really going to give too much in the way of specifics about particular systems because I think that's not as useful without being able to show you a specific diagram.
