The Strike and Killing of a FIU Information Technology Student
18-year-old information technology student at Florida International University in Miami was struck by a car and killed. The school later confirmed that there were already plans to build a pedestrian bridge across South West 8th Street. A 320 foot long bridge would feature plazas with benches and tables, event spaces and Wi-Fi service. They would be able to withstand a Category 5 hurricane and barring a major disaster should be serviceable for more than 100 years.
