How Does a Place Like the Meadows Deal With Victims?
I remember looking at her and feeling absolute disgust. And I'm like, she's innocent. Like adults do shitty things, but all kids are innocent until we fuck them up. So the disgust was really this like internalized shame of my abuser. At the meadows they actually have you do an exercise where you write a letter and you give back the shame. That's not my disgust for myself. That's the disgust that the perpetrator had. Not mine to carry.
