The Watershed Moment With the Moon Landing

In those years we saw the first Earth Day. We saw the founding of the Environmental Protection Agency. In there in 1968 was the whole Earth catalog that would then rapidly use that first image of Earthrise from the moon taken by, in December 1968 by Apollo 8. It's an extraordinary juxtaposition as though a kind of a firmware upgrade had descended from space into us. If you ask people then, oh yeah, of course we need an Earth Day, it's the right thing to do. But no one was stepping back and thinking globally.
