The idea of social engineering, it really kind of takes over the intellectual classes and this idea that we can plan things. You mentioned redlining and districting and highways. And I've talked about eminent domain. I think it'd be really good if you could just go through this 20th century approach. We oftentimes think of the federal government as kind of like a friend of black people as like a help. But actually a lot of things that went on in the 20th century, not just in eugenics and minimum wage, but also construction, zoning really hurt African American families.
