Is There a Crisis in Public School Districts?
There was a clear effort to count everybody as present in school if you had any possible excuse for doing so. The data are actually predicated on a kind of federal reporting convention, which is kids in seats as of a census day. And I think the broader story here is just how poor the data are that we're using to guide us through an unprecedented crisis.
