The body is still like unexplored territory, and you don't know why am. We often don't think about our bodies until something's not quite right with them. And then this sort of mysterious system that lurks beneath our skin suddenly makes itself present to usand it's asking us to act upon it in some way.

A deeply embedded idea in our culture is the sexist notion that men are the “default” human, and women the unknowable “other". Nowhere is this more visible than in the history of medicine, with disastrous consequences for women’s’ health.
