We Don't Understand Free Will or Consciousness
We don't even understand how ideas are generated as well which is again another separate issue if you generate two ideas choosing among them I would say is free will being aware that you're having them at all. Some people reject one or both of these it's bizarre I endorse both of them but also we wouldn't be talking about the firing of particular neurons in a computer. We probably shouldn't be simulating people thinking people inside of laptop computers because hey you'd be a thinking person inside of a laptop computer and that would possibly not be a pleasant experience until we know whether or not it's going to be apleasant experience or terrible suffering.
