Taxes in Ancient Egypt

Taxes have been around since three thousand b c. They paid less taxes in ancient egypt than we do now. In the new testament, one of jesus disciples, matthew, was a tax collector. Tax collectors were despised during that time because they would either cheat people or work for the roman government. There's a negative income tax for people who make so little money that the government gives them back.
