Gabby Federman's Struggles With Speech Therapy
Gabby Giffords was shot from about three feet away with a nine millimeter round right in the middle of the left side of her forehead. The bullet went either through or next to what's called the Broca's area, which is the transmission part. So that's why she has that type of aphasia. Her colleague John Federman also had a stroke and struggles with how he hears words. She says you can see gradual improvement with hard work.
