The Impact of the Erdogan Campaign on the Turkish Opposition
Istanbul is a huge city, larger than many European countries in terms of its population and vast budgetary resources. Erdogan managed to tee up a weaker, less charismatic candidate who gave it a good run. It does have to do with some really fascinating messaging that came out of the Polish-German opposition campaign. I think the demographics and the institutions and the media environment deflated the message's impact.
