Domestic Violence in the Black Community

Black women are further burdened with the fear of going to the police and the courts because they don't want to turn black men over to the criminal justice system. It can be a crippling burden, no matter your economic status. A lot of it happens because of systemic oppression. We see it in our own community here in New Zealand. You know, power is taken away from a whole community. And then what are they left? How are they meant to emotionally kind of get to grips with that? Unfortunately, domestic violence can be bred from that sort ofsystemic oppression.
