Gurgu Ferguson was an assistant gardener at an estate on the Hudson River. He had his undershirts embroidered with the Romanoff coat of arms. Gurgu spent all his money, except $30, and that's what he used to tip the footman and the chauffeur. After being exposed as a fake, everyone was so charmed by him that no one cared.
