Open topography was started with a from an academic perspective, assuming that the scientist will gen a shop and use this data to solve scientific problems. But it has taken on a life of its own because the power of these data setsas i think we all appreciate, is so vastthat they're useful for all kinds of interesting things beyond perhaps original application.
