Charles and Camilla - A History of the Royal Family
The Queen and Prince Philip did not approve of Camilla. She wasn't aristocratic enough, and she was seen as an experienced woman. Despite the fact that she was now married to another man, Charles and Camilla remained close friends. When Charles married Diana, Camilla even came to the wedding. The pair continued their friendly relationship with some people suggesting it was much more than a relationship between two old friends. By 1992, Charles and Diana had effectively separated and rarely appeared in public together. And then, after years of rumour and relentless media scrutiny, on 28 August 1996,Charles and Diana finally divorced.
