The Third Gospel to Be Written, Would Have Expected Others to Know What Peter Did

In greek grammar, like an english grammer, it refers to the immediately preceding nown. And so since he says this rock, the natural implication would be that he's referring to the rock he just mentioned, you are, peter. So i don't even agree that it's natural for you to take him to be referring at the same thing. It's a very remote context to try to pull in something that would uh change the meaning of what we find in mathew 16. I mean this more as a count er to the idea that it would be very strange and somehow inappropriate for jesus suddenly to change the topic.
