Hermann Hesse was the father of computers. He came up with his weird philosophy called monadology, which is kind of like every other philosophical text i've ever read. And partly it was kind of sign of its times, but he was trying to rescue subjectivity in time. It's sort of a natural consequence, not of the enlightenment, perse but a century or two later, the industrial revolution.
