Doll's First Children's Book, the Gremlins
Doll wrote a story about his experiences with the royal air force during World War II. The magazine changed the title to shot down over libya, even though doll had not actually been shot down. A year later, he published his first children's book, the gremlins, which was also about his experiences as a royal air force pilot. He gave it to the president, franklin roosevelt, who read it to grandchildren.
