The Benefits of Positive Local Wund Exploration

A positive local wound exploration is when the stab wound has actually violated this anterior rectus fascia. It's usually not feasible to visualize the posterior fascia as well, but violation of the anterior fascia is all you really need to call it a positive. Positive wound exploration means either a transition to the diagnostic imaging or the serial exam pathway. If there are no other indications to go to the OR, patient should be moved into either the serial abdominal exam pathway or the diagnostic imaging pathway.
