How to Transition From Short to Long Form

A novel reader and a short story reader come in with different expectations about the amount of exposition they're going to get. Short story readers are used to having to fill in the gaps because there's not enough space for everything. A lot of times, the short stories you really only have space to do one or two plot arcs and novels depending on the genre that you're going into they're expecting to see multiple. And so sometimes it can be too simple.
