Mirochamba is already talking about the blacks as if they're a bunch of runaway slaves. So it's natural that his reign of terror would take its cues from the old slave regime. You could kill a whole bunch of prisoners at once by locking them in the hold of a ship and pumping in sulphur gas all over the island. But every one was in live, free or die mode before he died. Leclaire even commented on this in a letter to bonaparte, saying, the men die with incredible fanaticism.
