Beethoven's Overture to Eggmont
This is one of those pieces that grabs a hold of you and never lets go. It's played so often by orchestras that it has threatened to become a cliche. The second battle sequence features the same unpredictability of rhythm, but also a return to the Friar Lawrence music. If you could distill the entire style of Beethoven down into eight minutes of music, I think this piece might be the perfect way to do that.
