Pornography in Movie Theaters - Deep Throat
The X rating was not designed to designate like porn versus not porn, but that wasn't really a problem until around 1969. Deep Throat is an X rated movie that plays in regular movie theaters and becomes one of the highest grossing movies of 1972 on a list where the godfather is number one. There's a very famous article in the New York Times that coins the term porno chic. It's basically about how it's become not only socially acceptable, but almost like a social mandate to go see Deep Throat in a movie theater.
