The Effects of the Northern Powerhouse
I think we've all grown very tired of people in Westminster who have no relationship to the communities. We're an outlier because most other countries have a form of regional or local devolution. That is one of the reasons why I would say we're a very unequal country. It's not surprising, is it, that that's given us this huge North South divide and blights millions of lives. If you make change from the bottom up, it tends to be better changed because you can involve people in the discussion about it. The places where there's a degree of devolution are making things happen. Look at the skyline of Manchester City Centre. This place is really changing at this moment
