Introduction
In between writing Crime and Punishment, Fyodor Dostievsky wrote a short story called The Dream of a Ridiculous Man. Mikhail Bakhtin is one of the great literary critics and theorists of the 20th century. He summarizes it as characteristic of the carnivalized genre of manipian satire.
