Part of the problem is that criteria that was once objective and am unilaterally accept among many scientists, those criteria become so heavily politicized. And when objectivity itself is being called into question, as it is nowadays, m we are at a tremendous loss in terms of functioning as autonomous, sovereign subjects who can rely on experts to tell us what to do. That's what experts part of what experts do. They don't really tell uswhat to do. They tell us how not to commit errors through our own faulty ways of thinking.
