The Dual Aspect Monism of Psychoanalysis

I'm somebody who greatly values what can be learnt from the subjective point of view. Things that you can never see with your eyes, not least of them feelings. So if you don't take that perspective on the brain and add the psychoanalytic point of view, you will never understand how this part of nature works. And so that's been my project. But once you build that bridge between psychoanalysis and neuroscience, it's a two-way bridge. God knows. Certainly Freud was greatly looking forward to the day when it would be possible to study the mental apparatus also from a biological points of view. It's hard. It's very hard to understand just one session. Let
