The Importance of Being a Working Class Man
The working class idealized man is good with his hands, practical and stoic. Would you say that that's more masculine than the middle class male? I think it's clear that's the case because we're in the company of a working class man who always tries to cosplay as more working class. And he needs to prove his ability to be a true man around a proper working class manly man. We grew up with an idea of masculinity that we now understand to be a little bit simplistic or problematic. But at least it was an idea to start off with and then we could figure out our own way afterwards.
