Sakler is a new book about the Sackler family and their love of collecting art. The brothers were prolific donors, putting their names on things all over the world. But they also had an insatiable desire to acquire asian art that led them to become collectors themselves. They would donate the art, but there's always a stipulation that the name needs to go up. And so i think some of it is about kind of honouring isaac's wishes. Some of it is just an affectation of the rich.

In this episode, award-winning writer and author of Empire of Pain, Patrick Radden Keefe speaks to Hannah Kuchler, the FT’s global pharmaceutical correspondent about how he uncovered fresh material on the Sacklers and discovered a modern parable of greed, corruption and cynical philanthropy.
